Elysium Cognitive Systems

Overview

I created this tabs interaction as a concept project for a fictious Information Technology company. The goal for this project is to shed light on the services that the company offers, with descriptions of each service available, in order for employees to be able to communicate this information to prospective customers.

Audience: New and current sales team members who are learning more about what the company offers

Responsibilities: Instructional Design, eLearning Development, Visual Design

Tools Used: Articulate Storyline 360, Adobe Illustrator

Process

I designed this tabs interaction for a fictious Information Technology (IT) company that were looking to teach their new and current employees about the services they offer their clients. I did research on general services that IT companies offer, making sure that each service was well defined for the user to read about. My overall goal was to make an interaction that allowed users to find the information intuitively and pleasing on the eyes as well. The first step in doing so was to create a color palette that I felt went well with the images I had found.

I then took the information that I had researched, along with the color palette I made, and designed a tabs interaction with state changes, slide and layer animations, and button customization. I also made the logo in the top corner a button as well, as users may also use it to return to the main page.

Results and Takeaways

I found the research of the fictious company to be very interesting, as it allowed me to learn more about a topic that I might rely on a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide the information about. Having multiple buttons on the information slide, both the home and logo buttons, was also something that I found I want to include in future projects that I create. This interaction also allowed me to work on how I choose colors for state changes, as having defined hover and selected states allows the user to know which tab they are on, so they don’t back track if they don’t want to.

Overall, the research and design of this interaction was very fun. By playing around with the customization of slide interactions, I continue to grow as an instructional designer each time I try something new like project.
